Hi John,

It's nice to see you here. While I did approve of the book review, I didn't express an opinion on the whole nouthetic counseling system. Nor would I disagree with CCEF's whole system. I'm sure there's at least some truth in both of them.

You said, "the mind as well as the body may have a real illness." IMO, I would prefer to state that, "the BRAIN as well as the body may have a real illness." And of course the mind/heart is inherently connected to the brain.

I'm sorry to hear of your struggle with depression. Have you ever considered trying to strengthen your brain with natural, nutritional supplements like 5htp, lithium orotate, SAM-e, or St. John's Wort? Thousands of formerly depressed people testify how their lives changed with nutrition.

P.S. I like your Berean spirit on your blog. Keep on following Christ just like your doing.

Greg

Having a first glance at your website. Seems to have lots of good things. However, I am a bit concerned that you approve the review of Ed Welch's book on depression. I have not read the book but as someone who has suffered from depression for many years I can tell you the nouthetic counselling dogmas are dangerously misguided. Their problem is they absolutize a view that may be appropriate for some. They fail to understand that the mind as well as the body may have a real illness. You should think carefully about how far you buy into their views.
